| Yahoo! Answers: Is normal yoga (not ante-natal) safe for pregnant women? I started to go to yoga classes (not antenatal ones, as I cannot find anything that runs in the evenings in my area) but they do a lot of lying on the back, standing head down (I think it's called "the dog" position) and lots of legs-in-the-air type of things. Not much breathing exercises at all. And while normally I wouldn't even blink doing those exercises (I am quite flexible, and used to go to the gym quite often - I am concerned that in my 5th month I am not allowed to do a lot of these poses. The gym management said "do what you think you can do" - but that's not good enough, as I am still my normal self in my head, and was quite stretchy and fit and think I can do anything. I am afraid to do some harm to the baby. The instructor says she doesn't teach pregnant women as she never had any training on that |
