This a term in the Buddhist and Hindu circles that refers to a higher level of concentrated meditation. So much about Yoga and its conventions but what is the major thing that sets Pilates apart from Yoga trainers? Do they have some sort of superiority over the former?Samadhi became part of some western intellectuals' day to day conversation towards late 1930s. Two writers, Aldous Huxley and Chris Isherwood developed special interest in Indian thought. They did not have to travel to India to find Indian spirituality; rather, it 'found them.' The word is so common in use but I have yet to understand its significance in Yoga circles.

"An extra thought on the matter"
I too have heard the term "samadhi" mostly in reference to Buddhist meditation. However, seeing as how there are seven limbs to yogic practice and that the Buddha deeply practiced Hindu and yogic meditative practices before his realization, I wouldn't be surprised if it was found the deeper the yoga practice is taken. In general, that term is used to designate "meditation" too. I currently live in Thailand at a yoga and meditation center. When telling people what I do, I say "samadhi" and they always know what I mean.
