• Page 1 (Original Post) • Melina (63.176.159.34) - What yoga practices would be beneficial to help protect against swine flu? Comment #1 Yakuo of the University (63.176.159.182) - I think Yoga may help with the maintaining once health but not completely. I think nothing beats the ever popular precaution and being vigilant. No matter how much you do yoga if you are around a person or group of persons having the dreaded AH1N1 Influenza, then how much you do yoga you will eventually be contaminated. Like any other virus which is contagious once one indiscriminately sneeze or coughs out the flu and unluckily you're unprotected in the receiving end then prepare yourself because you'll get the flu. Comment #2 Eliza from San Francisco - You body is bombarded with all kinds of germs and viruses every day. It is only when the immune system is weakened that you get a disease. Comment #3 Shirley (63.176.159.71) - I have to agree with you Eliza. The human body is indeed filled with tons of bacteria and at times fungus but these are controlled to a level that it will not turned into something serious not unless one's immune system is weakened. Comment #4 Aimee (63.176.159.125) - Swine flu is an air bourne disease. When you do Yoga you practice proper breathing.. One way to reduce the chance of getting this disease is by wearing a mask. Can you do proper breathing while wearing a mask? What if your yoga mates are infected, you'll definitely got the virus at once. Yoga will do nothing against this virus. Comment #5 Eliza from San Francisco - What if your immune system is up to par and you don't get it because your body rejects it. Comment #6 cwemoy (63.176.159.36) - I need serious help, how does Yoga help develop the body's immune system? Apparently swine flu and the H1N1 virus is spreading like fire. Is there any chance that those practising Yoga are immune from it? Do not get me wrong, I am not a Yoga pessimist but I think the information normally given is quite scanty. Comment #7 pale_o (63.176.159.143) - Yoga has been said to make the body resistant to diseases. I am curious to know if and how Yoga could help prevent one contracting Yoga because it could save millions..well perhaps billions of lives, from the deadly menace. I was a bit full of research and stumbled upon this Comment #8 Will (63.176.159.222) - Frankly I donīt understand the mechanism by which yoga could prevent "Swine flu". The flu is spread by a virus flying through the air. People wear masks to shield themselves from the airborne bugs, ok. Understand that. But while a spiritual/physical discipline like yoga can keep you health and your body in a good tone, I donīt see how it can have an effect on the flu. Please explain! Comment #9 Eliza from San Francisco - It is simple. You missed a key step in the process of getting the swine flu or any other communicable disease. Comment #10 Imee Cunning (63.176.159.100) - Influenza A(H1N1) virus is no longer that big of a threat but that doesn't mean we have to slack off with our health. Yoga indeed provides a relaxing and calming experience as I researched about it. I am open to any positive suggestions and output which can help me fend of such fatal diseases. I've tried a balance diet, clean living and healthy lifestyle and I think adding Yoga to the brew will make me more fit and fab. Comment #11 Anna Marie (63.176.159.151) - What is it with you guys and Yoga? why are you so against it, it is not something that will make you any less of a person when you try it. It is just like exercise or diet, Yoga is part of a healthy lifestyle. A healthy lifestyle means a healthy body, and a healthy body only means that it can resist such contagious disease like SARS or Swine Flu. Comment #12 moy (63.176.159.223) - I think no one in here is particularly against Yoga. They are all trying to be enlightened in some way and of course, the tempers flare in a way or the other if enough information is not provided. Comment #13 Isaac (63.176.159.213) - This forum does not seem to be heading anywhere, or so it appears. What is the latest on swine flu? Has the World Health Organization been able to contain the menace? Comment #14 kispe (63.176.159.84) - It is puzzling how the pigs first got swine flu and how it eventually spread to humans. Comment #15 Eve (63.176.159.206) - Pranic haling seems to be something that I amy enjoy learning about. Where is the best place to understand this concept, in and out? Comment #16 Eve (63.176.159.144) - Pranic Healing. Where may I learn more about it? Comment #17 adam (63.176.159.129) - I cannot say that I am much of a teacher of Yoga, but I tend to believe that i am a student of us, as we all are, or at least, need to be. Comment #18 smithy (63.176.159.120) - A student of Yoga, you mean? I understand where it is that you are coming from. I believe that we are all in stages in our lives where we can do with a little bit of Yoga practice, surely.
